STATE WELL PAD
Our highest priority is to conduct our business in a manner that protects the safety and welfare of communities, our employees, and the environment.
In 2021 elective soil vapor sampling on the State pad identified an isolated area of gas in the shallow soil. Ongoing monitoring results indicate that we located and identified the issue. Over the next several months, we will continue monitoring to confirm that remediation meets our strict company standards and Weld County and COGCC regulations. We are finishing up well abandonment work on the State 3-16 well and will move a rig back to the State 21-16 well to complete final abandonment work. Current operations on the pad are during daylight hours only and will continue until the re-entries are completed. We are doing everything we can to finish these activities as quickly, and safely as possible. Upon conclusion of the rig work, we will temporarily leave the sound walls in place until we complete the next phase of testing.
Background: Last year, our teams detected methane in an isolated, below-ground area near the recently retired State 30-16 well approximately 5 feet below the surface. We notified the appropriate local and state entities and took the following safety measures:
-
Installed continuous air monitoring
-
Placed a fence around the location
-
Added additional subsurface sampling points for further testing
STATE OF COLORADO AZ1 FLOWLINE REMOVAL
While completing reclamation activities at the former St of Colo AL2 & AL1 O SA facility, Kerr McGee Oil & Gas Onshore LP (KMOG) discovered several abandoned subsurface lines that formerly transported crude oil and produced water between equipment within the facility. Stained soil was also observed near the lines. Soil samples were collected and detections above the Energy and Carbon Management Commission (ECMC) standards for hydrocarbons were identified. KMOG has reported these detections to the ECMC through a Form 19 Spill/Release Report. The abandoned lines are in the process of being removed. Once the lines are removed, and in accordance with ECMC regulations, the impacted soil will be excavated and taken to a licensed disposal facility. Additional soil samples will be collected to confirm the impacts have been removed, and clean fill material will be brought in to backfill the excavation. These cleanup efforts will be documented in a supplemental Form 19 Spill/Release Report.
